Self Care Nighttime Routine and Skincare

Hey Guys! Welcome back

Today I wanted to share my nighttime self care routine and skincare. I LOVE talking about my babies and talking about being a mum but I also love talking about skincare and beauty so we are going back to basics.

Once Isla is in bed, I begin to wind down for the night and truly take the time to focus on myself. I will explain that this is not my EVERY day routine, but when I am taking the time to care for myself, this is what I do.

I will admit that as soon as she is down to sleep, I get my cleaning done. This doesn't SEEM like self care, but having a clean home makes me feel a lot better both mentally and physically because once it's done, it's done. And after it's done I can focus on cleaning myself! I always start by slicking my hair back in a ponytail/ bun if it isn't like that already and use a headband (Check out Pieces To Peaces headbands and use the code FRANKIIEREP for $$ off at checkout@) to keep the hair out of my face for my skincare routine.

I am not super crazy about an intense skincare routine, but if you have followed me for a while then you will know that I have a mini obsession with skincare and all of the things that go along with it. So if you ever have recommendations, let me know in the comments or by contacting me via social media! I'll just go over my basic steps to show you what I have been doing and what has been working for me.

Cleansing - I start with the Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes to take off my makeup from the day. This is a pretty lazy step and I know some people HATE wipes, but I find that it's the quickest and easiest way to take care of my makeup. Depending on how much makeup I have on, I can rip a wipe in half and use half for my whole face instead of a whole one. Means they last longer. I sometimes grab the Garnier wipes, but I find they are very abrasive on my skin and tend to just drag the makeup around, where as the Simple wipes are softer and have enough product to remove the makeup without pulling at my skin.

Exfoliating - Once all of my makeup is off, I will use the St Ives Facial Scrub. I have fallen in love with the St. Ives Fresh Skin Exfoliating Apricot Facial Scrub. I always feel so much better when I use a scrub because you can see the dead skin being taken off and I feel my skin be renewed and deeply cleaned and polished. With my pregnancy, I have hormones coming out of everywhere and its causing my chin to be a problem area, which I am used to at this point. I am okay with the redness that occurs but I really don't like the bumpy feeling of the breakouts and I find that these scrubs are able to take off the top/bumpy layer of skin and have my skin feeling smoother and generally better.

Face Mask - Like most skincare lovers, I love a good face mask. I am always on the hunt for something new, but I am still loving my L'oreal Exfoliate & Refining Face Mask.  I really want to try out the other/ newer L'oreal Masks, but if you want to know my opinion on this mask, I have a full review of this product on my blog, so you can check that out by clicking here.  This mask does include exfoliating beads, so I almost get a double scrub on the skin without dragging at my skin or being too abrasive. It's the perfect level of soft exfoliation. I will put a facemask on and get in the bath to let it sit and do it's job in my lovely bubbly warmth.

Bath Time - One of my favourite parts of life in general is having a bath. The ability to be able to sit and just take that time for myself. I know people think baths are gross, but they are so relaxing and make me feel so wonderful. When I am in the bath, I love a good bath bomb or bubble bar from LUSH. Some of my favourites are the Magic Wand, which is obviously a Christmas exclusive and I do not use it constantly otherwise I'd have none left! I also love anything with the Comforter scent, so the Comforter Bubble Bar and the Comforter Jelly Bomb, which they apparently don't sell anymore? I generally love obnoxiously sweet and fruity smells, so anything like that is good with me.

Body Wash - Although I love the Comforter Body Wash, I have been EXTREMELY obsessed with the Softsoap Moisturizing Body Wash - Citrus Splash & Berry Fusion and the Softsoap Moisturizing Body Wash, Juicy Pomegranate & Mango Infusion. These smell SO DAMN GOOD. It's actually ridiculous. And they are so affordable. You don't need to spend a ridiculous amount of money on body wash. You can smell delicious on a budget!

Hair Care - If you have followed me for a while you will know that I basically live for my Head And Shoulders Apple. I have used this for years, it smells good and works on my dandruff  so I don't want to fix something that isn't broken. HOWEVER, my FAVOURITE hair care brand of ALL TIME is Organix/OGX. My go to conditioner is the Organix Argan Oil Conditioner. If they made/ make an Anti Dandruff Shampoo that I don't know about, LET ME KNOW. Because I would happily switch to it. I love their stuff SO MUCH. After I am done and out of the bath, I use the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Double Care Treatment. My hair is super tangly and awful, this could be because of the Head And Shoulders but it means that I need to attempt to try and save my hair from the sadness.

Body Moisturizers - When I am all done and dry, I use some various moisturizers to try and take care of my skin and hopefully avoid getting (more) stretch marks from being super pregnant. For my belly and boobs, I use the Substance Mom Belly Jelly, I used it with my last pregnancy, too and I think it did make a difference in my skin as I didn't suffer from many stretch marks. So lets pray for similar results. I also use the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion for my arms and hands, this winter has DESTROYED my hands and I also find myself doing dishes constantly now that Isla has solid foods, so my hands and arms are so so dry. And lastly, for my legs I use the Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Lotion with Pure Cocoa Butter. Seems weird to use multiple products, but I have just gotten into this habit and I know the benefits of each products and love them each for different reasons.

Facial Moisturizer -  This is one of my favourite parts, the moisturizer. I am currently waiting for an order from Well.ca to come in with some new Moisturizers, Serums and Toners from The Ordinary; but at the moment I have been using 2 different moisturizers. One for the morning, which is my Clean And Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer,  I love this stuff, it is a perfect makeup base and makes me feel awake and renewed. But that is not what I want in the evening. So for the evening I use the Simple Skincare Nourishing 24hr Day/Night Cream. It is so nourishing and deeply hydrating but doesn't make your skin feel overly weighted down and heavy. I don't want to clog up my skin after I took the time and effort to clean it.

This is when I get my super comfy clothes on, my fuzzy socks, my big jumper and get snuggled up for the evening. I love making a cup of tea and snuggling on the sofa with a big blanket and going through my social media, usually watch a movie/tv show or play Mario Kart on the WiiU.

And then it's time for me to prep for the morning, get Isla's bottles ready for the morning, make sure I have everything I need and it's sleep time for this mama! Thank you so much for reading, hope you enjoyed reading about my evening routine and how I am taking the time to take care of myself. As a parent, it's really easy to lose yourself in your baby and forget to take the time to care for yourself. It is okay to get your nails done, to have that bath, have that glass of wine or whatever you need to do to make yourself feel awesome.

If you have any self care tips or product recommendations, let me know! Remember to follow me on my social media platforms, I am @frankiiebeauty everywhere. It is the best way to keep up to date with me and the babies between posts! Have a wonderful day and I will see you in the next one!
