Dinner For Under 5$! Recipe For Mum's On A Budget - Mushroom And Bacon Pasta

Today I am doing something slightly different to my normal posts, but if you follow me on Instagram you will know that I am a bit of a foodie and love to cook are share my meals. I also pride myself on being able to make delicious food on a budget without sacrificing taste and nutrients.

So I wanted to share with you my recipe for my "throw it all in" pasta made from a base of mushroom soup and whatever goodies you want to throw in! And this whole recipe cost me less than 5$, so it is perfect for someone on a budget and can feed a family of 3/4 or two people with some left overs.

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking time:  20 Minutes

 

What I used for my recipe:

One can of Campbell's Condensed Mushroom Soup

2 cups of a milk of your choice. I used skimmed.

One white onion

Half a pack of bacon

One Red Pepper

1 tsp of butter

2 Cloves of garlic

4 cups of pasta of your choice

Paprika, Salt and Pepper to taste

 

 

First step is going to be throwing some water on to boil to get it ready for the pasta. I always throw in some salt top help avoid the pasta from sticking.

Next step is dicing your garlic, onion and pepper. You can also add any other veggies that you like. I personally love onions and peppers and would happily add them to any recipe in the world. This  is also a good time to prep your bacon or whatever meat you want to use. I have found the easiest way to cut up the bacon was to use a pair of cooking scissors, the bacon in Canada is really fatty so cutting it with a knife is really annoying and this saves a lot of time.

At this point, the water is most likely boiling so you can throw your pasta into the salted water and get that cooking for15-20 minutes or as directed. Once you have cut everything up, put the stove to medium heat and throw everything into a pan and get it cooking. I have a spray can of coconut oil to avoid everything sticking to the pan. You need to leave this to cook until the bacon is fully cooked and the onion is transparent.

Once you have everything cooked in the pan, throw in your milk, soup and seasoning. By this time, the pasta should be done and you can throw it into the pan with the mushroom sauce. Let this simmer for 5-10 minutes so that the pasta and sauce can get all of the flavours from the bacon and the seasonings.

Once done, you can serve and enjoy the deliciousness!
